3 killed in lightning strike

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, June 8 (UNI) Three-members of a family were charred to death when lightning struck them at Kasipadu village in this district, last night,police said today.

Police said K Durgaprasad (55), a farmer, his son Ravindra (25), a M.Tech student of IIT who was selected for a lucrative job, another son Srikanth (17) and his wife Lakshmi went to their field in the evening. Suddenly heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed the village.

The farmer and his two sons, who were moving together, were charred to death. Lakshmi, who was a litte away, had a miraculous escape.

The M.Tech student had arrived in the village a few days ago from Delhi.
