2 injured in Purulia mine blast

Purulia, June 8 (UNI) At least two people were injured when a blast was triggered by an illegal mine mafia at Dangajor of this district, 60 km from Purulia town today.

Though unofficial sources claimed that several people were killed, Purulia Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Prasad and the police of Neturia police station, under which Dangajor falls, failed to confirm it.

''It was an illegal mine which was declared abandoned by the concerned coal units of Coal India Limited a few years ago,'' officials of Eastern Coalfields Limited(ECL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited(BCCL) told UNI here.

The police of Purulia and Burdwan(Asansol) districts have launched an investigation into the matter.
