Oman Indian Embassy officials safe; Helpline nos

New Delhi, June 7: All personnel of the Indian Embassy in Oman and their families are safe, the External Affairs Ministry said today, a day after cyclone Gonu pounded the Sultanate of Oman.

''Our Embassy is in constant touch with the Omani authorities to ascertain the safety of Indian citizens,'' an official statement said here today.

The Embassy was also trying to get in touch with the Indian community in various parts of Oman to ascertain the safety of Indians.

The cyclone has affected Muscat and the Port of Sur where most of the 3,86,000 Indians work.

A control room has been established in the Ministry to respond to any query about the safety of Indians in Oman.
