Woman among three arrested on extortion charges

Guwahati, June 6 (UNI) The Army today nabbed three persons, including a woman, on charges of assaulting two Oil India Limited (OIL) engineers and slapping extortion notices.

Defence sources said the 44 Field Regiment personnel nabbed Ratul Gogoi, Bulbul Gogoi and Pinki Jamal at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district and handed them over to the police.

Two OIL engineers were slapped an extortion notice by the accused on June 3.

Two other accomplices, including a woman, were said to be absconding.

Investigation was on to ascertain whether they had only link with extremists.
