Dehradun, June 6 (UNI) Amarmani Tripathy, the main accused in the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case today withdrew his petition seeking permission to attend the oath taking ceremony of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Tripathy's advocate, Surat Singh Negi said that a fresh writ petition in this regard would be filed again in the Uttarakhand High Court in the coming days.

Tripathy, presently lodged in Dehradun Jail, recently won the UP assembly elections from Laxmipur constituency of Mahargunj district.

Tripathy's petition asking permission to go to Lucknow for the oath taking ceremony was rejected on May 16 by the Dehradun special Session Court. He had then filed a petition in the Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital, seeking permission to go to Lucknow.

Tripathy was earlier allowed to go for filing his nominations for the UP assembly elections by the Supreme Court.
