'Third Front' to remain a classic illusion: BJP

Chennai, Jun 6 (UNI) The formation of 'Third Front' will remain a ''mere classic illusion'' in Indian politics, BJP Spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed today.

Talking to newspersons at the party headquarters here, he said ''I do not foresee any future for the third front in Indian politics. The parties planning for the third front itself are quite uncertain about its future.'' On the party's election debacle in Uttar Pradesh, he said the BJP failed to place itself as an effective alternative to the BSP. '' The people voted out Mulayam Singh but we could not place as an effecive alternative to the BSP to win the elections.'' He said the party would play the role of a constructive opposition in Goa.

On the performance of Doordarshan and All India Radio in the highly competitive world, he said he still believed that the Doordarshan and AIR had a powerful role in disseminating informations for the common man.

''Unlike private channels, Doordarshan has a social commitment.

Presently, I am not happy with the performance of the Ministry, which looks after the affairs of Doordarshan,'' he added.
