Seventymm launches services in Chennai

Chennai, June 6 (UNI) Seventymm, India's largest movie rental company, today launched its services in the city, the fourth metro, in a bid to exploit the Rs 400 crore home video market in the country.

Announcing the launch of the service at a press conference here, company Founder and CEO Raghav Kher said it will offer more than 15,000 titles, covering English, Hindi, Tamil and other regional language movies and award-winning documentaries.

Seventymm services, which are currently available in Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai besides the city, had set up an efficient logistics infrastructure in each of the cities to support the entire offering.

Of the 15,000 plus titles, nearly 40 per cent are English movies and 600 Tamil. The company procure only legally available titles and the consumers would be supplied with original prints of their favourite movies.

Consumers could become members and choose their choice of films by visiting the company's website www.seventymm.com, which has a variety of search and browse features, he said.

Free home delivery and pick up of DVDs, flexible subscription options, no late fees, freedom of keeping the movies as long as one wants and multiple touch points through internet, SMS and calls were some of the attractive features of the service, he said.

Mr Kher said the home video market was growing rapidly in the country and put the market size at Rs 800 crore, 50 per cent of which was rental market.

He said the window between theatrical release and home release was shrinking fast and now it was 30 to 60 days, compared to six month period prevailed earlier. ''India being the movie crazy nation, home video market will grow at high speed,'' he said.

Actress Rohini, who was present on the occasion and received the honorary membership, said the free home delivery concept was the most attractive concept in the servicing. This will also help to fight video piracy, she added.
