Seven years' RI to constable, son for loot

Ratlam, MP, June 6 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a constable and his son to seven years' rigorous imprisonment for looting a youth at Ratlam-Sailana road about eight months back.

According to prosecution, suspended constable Indrajeet Singh and his son Sonu had looted Ahmedabad-resident Mahesh Bhai on a knifepoint at around 2000 hrs on October 17, 2006.

Mahesh was then returning from Sailana to Ratlam. Besides Rs 3,500, the accused looted mobile and five ATM cards from him.

Ratlam-resident Nandkishore alias Vijay was accompanying Mahesh when the incident occurred.

Soon after the incident, police had arrested Indrajeet and Sonu.

Interrogation revealed that Vijay was involved in the conspiracy to loot Mahesh. The plan was hatched by Vijay.

However, Vijay was acquitted for want of evidence.
