Guwahati, June 6 (UNI) Asom police has formed a four member team to investigate the abduction of Food Corporation of India (FCI) executive director PC Ram by suspected militants nearly two months back.

City SSP Surinder Kumar told UNI today a DSP would lead a team of four officers and investigate the kidnapping to trace the top government official.

Ram and his driver was kidnapped on April 17 while he was returning home from office.

His driver was traced two days after the incident, while Ram's official car was recovered in the lower Asom town of Rangiya.

Reports suggested that ULFA was behind the kidnapping, and it had demanded a ransom of Rs 21 crore for his release.

However, Ram's son Praveen, who resides in Ghaziabad, had denied receiving any extortion demand.

A massive operation was launched by the Army and police to trace the abducted official in different parts of lower Asom and Bhutan border.

This is one of the biggest kidnapping of a senior government official in Asom, which has set the security forces in tizzy.
