Maoists to recruit 500,000 young communist league cadres

Kathmandu, June 6 (UNI) Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, has said the number of members in the recently formed youth wing of his party, Young Communist League, would reach 500,000 within a few months time, reports said.

''The royalists and reactionaries, who had dreamt of ruling over the Maoists by limiting their army within the cantonments, are taken aback following the constitution of the League'', the Maoist leader was quoted as saying by the state-run 'The Rising Nepal'.

The total strength of the Legaue would reach 500,000 within the next four months, he said.

The activities of the League has been criticised by various political parties and even by the Maoists.

However, in the recent days, they have started some constructive works. The League members helped to arrest a group of red sandalwood smugglers and a businessman, against whom an arrest warrant was issued by the police.
