Copper turnover at Rs 877 cr

Mumbai, June 6 (UNI) Copper contracts turnover recorded Rs 877.22 crore with a volume of 28,397,000 kg on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in the first part of today's session.

Copper contracts traded down between Rs 1.45 and 2.40 per kg with the June contract down by 0.47 per cent at Rs 307.95 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 581.21 crore with a volume of 37,870 tonnes and open interest (OI) of 27,500 tonnes, an MCX spokesperson said.

Similarly, zinc contracts were down between Rs 2.15 and 2.45 per kg with the June contract down 1.39 per cent at Rs 152.40 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 311.64 crore with volume of 1,618,750 kg and OI of 757,500 kg. Nickel for June delivery was down 1.39 per cent at Rs 1916.30 per kg. Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 12.19 crore with volume of 1,076 tonnes and OI of 5,662 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was down 0.44 per cent at Rs 112.80 per kg.

Meanwhile, the turnover in all essential and non essential commodity varieties on MCX in the first session was recorded higher at Rs 3,303 crore and total number of trades was 58,521.

MCX Comdex -- the composite index of metal, energy and agri indices was down 0.22 per cent at 2169.15 points. Both MCX Metal Index and MCX Energy Index were steady at 2609.68 points and 2198.41 points respectively. MCX Agri Index was down 0.22 per cent at 1684.51 points.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 1084.94 crore of which gold was Rs 592.76 crore and silver Rs 492.18 crore. Gold contract volumes were 6,606 kgs and open interest 12,424 kgs while silver volumes were 263,650 kgs and OI was 524,940 kgs. Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded down between Rs 6 and 36 per 10 gms, with the August gold contract trading down 0.08 per cent at Rs 8958 per 10 gms.

Settlement price of two futures contracts, gold and gold mini expired on June 5, were Rs 8779 per 10 gms. Silver contracts, including silver mini, were down between Rs 47 and 85 per kg. The July contract was down 0.45 per cent at Rs 18,608 per kg.
