CM unhappy with traffic jams
Hyderabad, June 6 (UNI) While it took only an hour to fly from here to Mumbai, almost two hours had to be spent to travel from Begumpet Airport here to any other place in the city during peak hours, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said today.
Expressing his displeasure over lack of discipline among road users, the chief minister, at a review meeting, said '' I will not tolerate any more delay. All departments should work in tandem and ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.'' Following pleas from the city police, the chief minister ordered synchronising traffic signals at 225 junctions in Hyderabad and 63 junctions in Cyberabad latest by August 15, an official release said.
The chief minister also decried the delay in completion of road-widening work in the city and on the outskirts and wanted a time-bound plan of action.
When City police commissioner Balwinder Singh brought to the chief minister's notice shortage of police personnel, the latter announced sanctioning of 600 Home Guards to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
