BSNL employee sentenced in bribery case

Patna, June 6 (UNI) A special CBI court here today awarded two years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) to an employee of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in a bribery case.

The court also slapped a total fine of Rs 4,000 against the convict.

The designated judge R S Rai found guilty Wasi Ahamad the then technical assistant of Cheharakala telephone exchange of BSNL in Vaishali district under the various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the charges, convict Wasi Ahamad was arrested by the CBI while accepting a bribe of Rs 200 from a customer of BSNL for providing him a telephone connection, on April 22, 2003.
