14 jailed for damage to govt property
Hisar, Jun 6 (UNI) A local court today sentenced 14 persons to five years' imprisonment for damaging government property during the mob frenzy after the murder of former Haryana legislator Relu Ram Punia and his family members in 2001.
Additional Session Judge Vimlesh Tanwar also awarded a fine of Rs 7,000 each to 14 persons found guilty of damaging government property on August 23, 2001.
The crowd, which had gone berserk, torched the police post and also damaged the government property.
The convicted persons were Gulab, Ramesh, Kuldip, Dharmpal, Baljeet, Balwant , Virendra, Jagan Nath, Rajendra, Ved Prakash, Balbir, Ranbir, Jai Prakash and Madan.
