Ullal result: People rejected coalition set-up
Bangalore, Jun 5: Congress today termed its party candidate's victory in Ullal Assembly byelection was nothing but rejection of communal forces in power in Karnataka, Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge said today.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the coalition partners BJP and JD(S), who had put their 16-month rule's performance at stake in the by poll, have miserably failed in their attempt to defeat Congress party.
He said that both Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa took lead in campaigning for their respective party candidates and made several false promises before the people only with an intention to win the election.
Mr Kharge said the party's win has also proved unity in Congress since all the leaders worked day and night for the victory of party candidate.
Senior Congress leader and Opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh, who was also present, said that the victory has demonstrated party's strong base in the state.
