Traffic resumes as Agra-Jaipur highway opens

Jaipur, June 5 (UNI) Traffic flow on the most affected National Highway No 11 linking Agra-Jaipur smoothened this morning after Gujjar agitators lifted the road blockades following the peace deal between the state government and their leaders.

According to police sources, no traffic had been allowed on the hghway near Patoli since May 29 when the Gujjar stir started with chakka jams at various parts of the state. The traffic resumed from 0330 hrs.

The Gurjar Arakshan Samiti had started the stir with chakka jam on four national highways on May 29 which later turned violent claiming 24 lives.

After the state government's assurance to form a three-member committee to look into the demands of the community, Gujjar leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla reached Patoli late night and asked agitators to lift the blockades.
