Thiruvananthapuram, June 5 (UNI) Software exports from Kerala have crossed Rs 700 crore during 2006-07, registering a 50 per cent growth.

Kerala IT Secretary Jyotilal, in an official release, said the software exports during 2005-06 were Rs 452 crore and the state had achieved 50 per cent growth compared to national growth rate of 33 per cent during the period.

He said a lion's share of the foreign exchange was earned by the Technopark-based companies like US Software Technologies, IBS, Suntec and Nest.

Several IT-related projects, including the Smart City at Kochi and Technocity here, were on the pipeline and with these new projects becoming operational, Kerala would emerge as the best IT centre in the country within a short span of time, he added.
