Jammu: 3300 pilgrims register for Amarnath yatra

Jammu, June 5: More than 3300 people have registered their names for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage at various centres set up by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank across the country since Saturday, official sources said here today.

While over 2200 people would undertake the journey via Pahalgam route, 1100 others would travel to the holy cave shrine through the Baltal route, the sources added.

They said a total of 2,30,220 pilgrims would visit the shrine this year as compared to the fixed quota of 4,99,720 pilgrims last year.

For the registration of the pilgrimage, which will commence from June 30, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank has set up a total of 87 centres across the country, the sources said.
