New VC for NTRUHS
Vijayawada, June 5 (UNI) Dr A V Krishnam Raju assumed charge as the new vice-chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) here today.
He succeeds Prof R Sambasiva Rao who had been posted as Additional Director in the office of the Director General of Health Sciences at New Delhi.
Dr Raju has 31 years of experience in teaching undergraduate and post graduate medical students and worked as the principal of Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada for three years.
A recipient of Republic Day Awards for distinguished services, Dr Raju rpt Dr Raju was also a sportsman having represented Andhra University ininter-university table tennis in 1970 besides playing for Rangaraya Medical College in table tennis, cricket and hockey teams from 1968 to 1973.
Later, listing out his immediate priorities to UNI, Dr Raju said he would rectify administrative lapses, if any, in the university besides inculcating a sense of discipline among the staff.
Stating he would implement the 'examination reforms' strictly, he added the EMACET and post-graduate courses counselling would be streamlined.
Dr Raju said a network centre would be established in the university for EMACET counselling and the university office would be computerised.
His other priorities included promotion of consortium of digital libraries of all the affiliated colleges by establishing 'NTR Mednet.' UNI
