MRPL May despatch at 1,128 MMT

Mangalore, June 5 (UNI) The Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Limited (MRPL) has achieved yet another milestone by despatching 1,128 MMT of petroleum products in May 2007.

The May despatch was higher by 8.7 per cent over 1,038 MMT during the corresponding period last year which included domestic product off-take and exports.

The industry off-take from MRPL this year was an all-time high of 0.493 MMT with major products in demand being high speed diesel, petrol and kerosene.

According to a top official from MRPL, the domestic demand was burgeoning as expected with a major demand for middle distillates and MRPL had rose to the occasion in meeting the nation's requirement.

The demand was higher than the production during the month of May. By meeting the demand, the MRPL had most of the opportunity in the market place, the official said.

He said that at present, MRPL was exporting fuel to Singapore, Mauritius and Abu Dhabi and earning from exports during 2006-07 alone was at Rs 11,636.64 crore.
