Militant killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, June 5 (UNI) A militant was killed by Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police in a joint operation in south Kashmir today.

A police spokesman said Army and SOG launched a joint operation at village Panjran in south Kashmir district of Pulwama following a tip off that militants were hiding there.

However, when the security forces were about to storm a particular house, they came under heavy fire from militants. The fire was returned and in the encounter one militant was killed. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.
