New Delhi, June 5 (UNI) With no respite insight from the scorching heat, Delhiites braved yet another hot day as the mercury today soared to 40.6 degrees Celsius.

The minimum, however, remained a degree below normal at 29 degrees Celsius, two degrees less than yesterday.

Presenting a grim picture, the met department has forecast a further rise in the temperature to 43 degress Celsius in the next 24 hours. Isolated duststorm or thunderstorm is also likely to occur over Delhi.

Yesterday the temperature dipped to 38.5 degrees Celsius, from 44 degrees Celsius the previous day.

For the North-Western region, the met department has predicted isolated rain thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

It also forecast further rise in day temperature over the region.

The Met department said the excessive heat was mainly due to the fact that disturbances in air flow had moved ahead and there was no circulation of air in the upper reaches in and around the Capital.
