MCX turnover at Rs 3,436.45 cr in first session

Mumbai, Jun 5 (UNI) The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 3436.45 crore in the first session up to 1700 hrs.

Total number of trades was 63,377.

MCX Comdex -- the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices -- was up 0.03 per cent at 2,180.42 points. The MCX Metal Index was up 0.02 per cent at 2,615.46 points, MCX Energy Index was down 0.07 per cent at 2,209.63 points, and MCX Agri Index ended 0.32 per cent higher at 1,687.99 points, an MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 951.20 crore of which gold was Rs 557.86 crore and silver Rs 393.35 crore. Gold contract volumes were 6,208 kgs and open interest 12,846 kgs while silver volumes were 210,360 kgs and open interest was 526,845 kgs.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, traded in a range of Re 1 to Rs 14 per 10 gms, with the June contracts being 0.01 per cent down at Rs 8825 per ten gms.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, traded between Rs 62 to Rs 68 per kg. The July contract was up 0.28 per cent at Rs 18,674 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 1,120 crore with volume of 35,796.000 kg and open interest of 15,182,000 kg. Copper contracts traded between Re 0.25 and Re 0.50 per kg with the June contract being up by 0.08 per cent at Rs 311.30 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 637 crore with volume of 40,790 tonnes and open interest of 23,930 tonnes. Zinc contracts were down between Re 0.10 and Re. 0.40 with the June contract lower at Rs 155.50 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 240.84 crore with volume of 1,220,750 kg and open interest of 621,250 kg. Nickel for June delivery was down 1.36 per cent at Rs 1,961.40 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 9.45 crore with volume of 830 tonnes and open interest of 5,198 tonnes. Aluminium June 07 contract was up 0.26 per cent at Rs 113.70 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
