High-tech intelligence network for Indo-Nepal border

Gorakhpur, June 5 (UNI) With a view to curbing criminal activities along the Indo-Nepal border, the outposts of Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) will be equipped with high-tech gadgets.

''There is a need to spruce up the intelligence network on the Indo-Nepal border as thousands of people cross border daily,'' SSB DIG S Bandopadhyay today told UNI here.

The outposts will be connected with the internet and video conferencing facilities which would facilitate direct contact with the SSB. The proposal, in connection, has been sent to the SSB headquarters, he added.

Besides, keeping a vigil on terorrist acitivity, an action plan would be made and meeting would be held every month in coordination with all central agencies, military and para-military forces, including the local administration.

Under a new strategy of making 'model village', 45 villages would be adopted.

A battalion force has been deployed in each border district, including Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur and Shravasti.

Additionally, a female battalion force would be deployed to stop the activities of women smugglers, besides, Railway Security Force and the SSB to curb train-smuggling cases, Mr Bandopadhyay added.
