HC reserve orders on paper lottery case

Kochi, June 5 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today reserved orders on a petition filed by the promoters of Sikkim Lottery here, who challenged the validity of the tax on Kerala Paper Lotteries Act, 2005.

The counsel for the petitioner, Ms Nalini Chidambaram, argued that the state had no right to impose tax on outside state lotteries, adding it was vested with the Parliament instead.

The case had come up before Justice C N Ramachandran Nair.
