Finance Commission report by December

Bangalore, June 5 (UNI) The third Karnataka State Finance Commission on devolution of funds to local bodis will submit its report to the State Government by December, Commission Chairman A G Kudgi said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said the Commission is visiting all the districts to elicit opinions of Zilla Panchayat, Village Panchayat and Gram Panchayat members on financial needs and resourse mobilisation. This task would be completed within the next three months. Already nine districts have been covered.

Mr Kudgi said that efforts would certainly be made to remove regional imbalance and ensure higher allocation of resource to weak gram panchayats on the basis of the Nanjundappa committee report on regional imbalance.

He said that the Commission may also tour other States including Kerala to learn about functioning of local body institutions in that states.
