Ex-Cheney aide sentenced to 30 months in leak case

WASHINGTON, June 5 (Reuters) Former vice presidential aide Lewis ''Scooter'' Libby was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for lying and obstructing investigators during a probe tied to the Iraq war.

Investigators were trying to determine who leaked the identity of CIA analyst Valerie Plame in 2003 after her husband accused the Bush administration of manipulating intelligence to build its case for war.

Judge Reggie Walton also imposed a fine of 250,000 dollars and two years probation.

Libby's lawyers were expected to ask Walton to suspend the sentence while they appeal the case.
