UBI to open 10 NRI cells in Malabar

Kozhikode, June 4: Public sector Union Bank of India (UBI) proposes to open ten NRI cells in the Malabar region to provide hassle-free banking services to overseas Indians.

The locations identified were Mala, Irinjhalakkuda, Guruvayoor, Thrissur, Pattithara, Tirur, Palayam Road, Thalassery, Chovva and Kasargod, UBI Area Business Development Manager S Jayamohan Nayar told reporters here today.

He said the cells would be manned by an officer, who would exclusively take care of the requirements of Non-Resident Indians.

The bank proposed to introduce core banking in all the branches by 2008, he added.
