Suspended BSP MP appears in court
Gorakhpur, June 4 (UNI) Suspended controvertials Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Umakant Yadav, arrested for 'issuing threats' in order to encroach upon a portion of land in Azamgarh, today appeared before a local court here.
Mr Yadav appeared before Special Judge (Gangster Act) K P Singh under tight security, who fixed June 7 as the next hearing of the case.
On May 28, Mr Yadav, BSP MP from Machhlishahr seat of Jaunpur, his son Dinesh and five others had bulldozed the house of Feroz Ahmed and Bhullan Devi in Pallia Udai village of Phoolpur area and made the encroachment. Later, the accused threatened the villagers by firing in the air.
On May 30, Mr Yadav was arrested while he was on his way to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in Lucknow.
