Rosewood logs worth Rs 10 lakh seized after chase

Madikeri, June 4 (UNI) Officials of the Mobile Forest Squad arrested one person and seized rosewood logs valued Rs 10 lakh at Shanivarasanthe in Kodagu district of Karnataka.

Officials said a mini lorry laden with rosewood was asked to stop at a check post yesterday.

As the driver did not heed and tried to run away, the forest officials in a jeep chased the lorry and after firing two shots in the air stopped the vehicle.

While the driver was arrested, ten others travelling in the lorry escaped, officials added.

UNI
