Rose wood seized after hot chase

Madikeri, Karantaka, Jun 4 (UNI) Officials belonging to Mobile Forest Squad arrested one person and seized rose wood valued at Rs 10 lakhs after a hot chase at Shanivarasanthe in Kodagu district yesterday.

Officials said a mini lorry laden with rose wood was asked to stop but the driver fled leading to a chase by the squad. During the chase, the mini lorry driver allegedly tried to topple the jeep belonging to the squad. Forest officials opened two rounds of fire in the air forcing the driver to stop the lorry.

The driver was arrested. However, ten others travelling in the lorry escaped, officials said.
