Rebels attack bureaucrat's residence

Guwahati, Jun 4 (UNI) Suspected rebels this evening attacked the house of Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAADC) principal secretary at Diphu in central Asom.

Police said a group of militants fired three shots to principal secretary Lonki Thangsu's residence at Diphu town, the headquarters of the district council. The militants also lobbed a grenade which however, did not explode.

No one was injured in the incident, while panes and some structures of the house suffered damages.

Police suspect the hand of DHD (Jewel Garlosa) militants in the attack.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and investigation was on.
