Ranchi, Jun 4 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today announced that the rainwater harvesting technique in multistoreys will be soon made mandatory in the state.

Addressing a workshop on ''Rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge'', Mr Koda said about 1400 milimetre rainfall was recorded every year in the state but a major part of it remained unutilised.

Keeping in view the present scenario of acute water crisis, the government was planning to formulate a policy with special focus on water preservation this year, Mr Koda said.

The state government had adopted various water preservation methods, including plantation, better irrigation system, construction of check dams and wells, Mr Koda further informed.
