Quattrocchi extradition: Hearing begins June 7
New Delhi, Jun 4: An Argentinian court has fixed June 7 to start hearing on the extradition process of Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in the multi-crore Bofors kickbacks scandal, the CBI today informed the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini.
The court has asked the investigative agency to inform the progress made in the case on July 27, the next date of hearing.
In its earlier status report on March 14, the agency claimed that the translation of the documents from Spanish to English was the reason for the delay in preparing extradition papers against the Italian fugitive.
The CBI has charged Quattrocchi with conspiracy to cheat in the Rs 64 crore Bofors payoff case.
Quattrocchi was arrested in Iguazu in Argentina on the basis of an Interpol Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued in 1997 against him.
Quattrocchi is currently on bail.
