Pakistan reiterates opposition to ''hegemonic tendencies''

Islamabad, June 4 (UNI) Pakistan today said it would not ''accept hegemonic tendencies from any country'' in the region.

''Respect for sovereign equality of all states is essential for peace and harmony in the region,'' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at the weekly news briefing in Islamabad.

She was commenting on Indian Security Advisor M K Narayanan's statement suggesting to Sri Lanka not to purchase arms from Pakistan and China.

The spokesperson said,''the matter is primarily for Sri Lanka to decide. Such statements raise questions about India's attitude and policy towards its neighbours.'' UNI
