Bangalore: Naxals kill 'informer'
Bangalore, June 4: Suspected naxalites belonging to CPI (Maoists) shot dead a person, branding him a 'police informer', in Kigga village in Chikmagalore district tonight.
Police said a group of about eight to 12 naxals barged into the shop run by Venkatesh Gowda (45) and pulled him out. They attacked him with machetes and later shot him, killing him on the spot in front of his wife and children.
Sources said the ultras stated that Gowda was responsible for a police encounter in December last in which naxal leader Divakara was killed.
They also set the shop on fire.
