MP govt relieves after Gujjar agitation ends
Bhopal, June 4 (UNI) With the Gujjar community ending the pro-reservation agitation in Rajasthan today, the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh heaved a sigh of relief.
Gujjars in Gwalior-Chambal region and parts of Malwa region had made up their minds to join the agitation and today's Gwalior bandh was part of that sequence.
The community has a sizeable presence in Gwalior-Chambal, which was already beginning to feel the agitation's heat.
Train movement and road traffic were affected. Rajasthan-bound trucks were being gradually sent after a gap of four days while the Gwalior-Jaipur Inter-city Express was cancelled for the sixth day and the Kota-Damoh Passenger train did not ply for the third consecutive day. The Guna-Kota rail route was also hamperred.
Gujjars staged protest-demonstrations at several places in the state today. The administration was concerned about a proposed Gurjar meeting today in Guna district's Meena-dominated Chachaura area. The meeting was eventually cancelled.
