Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 4: Union Minister of State for Rural Development Ms Suryakanta Patil tonight came down heavily on the media for not being fair and transparent in its reporting.

Releasing a book 'Tikli tar Tikli' authored by state publicity officer Ms Shraddha Belsare here this evening, Ms Patil said media as a whole has not been fair in its reporting and unnecessarily criticising a particular section of people.

Now a days, the media is very much after the Marathi people and has gone on critising them without being fair, she added without mentioning about Maharashtrian Avinash Bhosale, a Pune-based business tycoon, who was earlier arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Mumbai Airport for evading customs duty and was in the media glare recently.

On the other hand, the same media has not been so critical about another Maharashtrian who has reached the other extreme by earning name and fame through unfair means and plays his moves from abroad, she said and added, ''Such reporting by the media only creates chaos and ultimately violence in the society. Therefore the media should be fair while reporting, she said.
