Legislature, judiciary should function independently: Atwal
Jalandhar, Jun 4 (UNI) Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjeet Singh Atwal today asserted that the legislature, executive and judiciary should not interfere in each others area of functioning.
''The Constitution has clearly defined the powers of legislature, executive and judiciary, the three pillars of the democracy, and for proper functioning, they should not interfere in each others field of working,'' the Deputy Speaker clarified when asked by media persons why always Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee says, ''Judiciary cannot interfere in legislature's powers.'' Earlier, Mr Atwal reviewed the meeting of District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee and asked the Deputy Commissioner, SDMs and BDOs to regulary monitor the functioning of centrally sponsored schemes.
He informed that Centre had extended the Employment Guranttee Scheme to three more districts of Punjab--Jalandhar, Amritsar and Nawashehar, besides Hoshiarpur.
