Junior engineer held captive over contaminated water supply

Varanasi, June 4 (UNI) Enraged over the supply of contaminated drinking water, a mob, led by two municipal corporators, held a junior engineer of Jal Sansthan captive in his office here today.

Led by Anil Sharma and Kamal Patel, residents of Naria and Sunderpur areas reached the Jal Sansthan office to complain about the supply of contaminated drinking water in the two localities on the outskirts of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

On failing to draw the attention of junior engineer Anup Srivastava over the matter, the denizens first held the official captive inside his room for over two hours and then forced him to taste the sample of contaminated water.

Later, senior officials of Jal Sansthan intervened and assured prompt action in the matter.
