IAF round-the-world microlight lands in Bangkok

Bangkok, June 4: The Indian Air Force's round-the-world microlight aircraft expedition, which was delayed earlier due to bad weather, landed at Bangkok's Dong Muang airport here today.

After landing Wing Commanders Rahul Monga, who is the Captain of the two-pilot expedition, told sources that the aircraft had to return to Yangon in Myanmar, due to inclement weather.

Along with his co-pilot Wing Commander Anil Kumar, he would take off for Vietnam early tomorrow if the weather permitted, he added.

The duo left the Air Force Station in Hindon, India on June 1 on a 39,000 km round-the-world flight on German-designed CTSW Advance microlight as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the IAF.

They will also land in Thailand, China, Russia, US, Canada, Turkey, Iran and Oman before their scheduled return to India on August 4.
