Hollohon quits Rio's camp as Parliamentary Secy

Kohima, Jun 4 (UNI) Hot on the heels of resignations of Parliamentary Secretary Yeangpong Konyak and the Advisor of Nagaland Bamboo Mission Khutovi, another Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare Kihoto Hollohon has resigned from Neiphiu Rio led Democratic Alliance OF Nagaland(DAN) ministry.

Addressing media persons at Dimapur yesterday, Mr Hollohon, a member of Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) party, informed that he had submitted his resignation letter to the Chief Minister and reposed his faith and support to Z Obed, the leader of the DAN group.

He said that the reason for his resignation was ''lack of cohesion among NPF members''. He said that he was holding the post, but was doing nothing and therefore he thought he should resign before anything happened, referring to a likelihood in the formation of an alternative DAN government headed by Z Obed.

Mr Hollohon said he had sacrificed a ministerial post to give chance to the younger legislators when the ministry was downsized in 2004, despite being a seasoned politician, his resignation has nothing to do with the ministerial berth.

Meanwhile, the leader of Janata Dal(United) Legislature Party Deo Nukhu reiterated that DAN allies JD(U) and BJP would continue to stand by the coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Neipheu Rio.

In a statement here today he expressed his astonishment to learn of the latest political development in the state, which he described as ''unfortunate'' that such misunderstanding cropped up among the NPF legislators.
