Heat waves lashes UP; toll 38
Lucknow, June 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh continues to reel under heat wave condition, even as weather department today forecast respite from the scorching heat in the next 24 hours.
The mercury level has already shot through the roof in several places, including 46 degrees Celsius in Varanasi.
Since yesterday, at least one person died of heat-stroke in Siddharthnagar, taking the death toll to 38 so far.
People are facing hardships due to scorching heat with temperature touching 44.6 degrees in Lucknow, which was five degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, the Met Department also forecast squall and drizzle accompanied by lightning and thundershowers.
