HC directs Bhosale to file affidavit
Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed Pune-based high profile hotelier and builder Avinash Bhosale to file an affadavit, in reply to a petition filed by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seeking the cancellation of bail granted to him by a Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
Justice V K Tahilramani has given time till June 11 to Bhosale to file the affidavit and the matter was adjourned till June 18 for further hearing.
The DRI contended that the Magistrate was not having charge of a night magistrate on May 27 and hence was not entitiled to grant bail. Therefore, the central agency has sought cancellation of the bail granted to Bhosale'' as it was granted without jurisdiction''.
Bhosale was arrested by DRI sleuths at Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport in Mumbai on May 27 when he returned from London, carrying imported goods worth lakhs of rupees. He was trying to leave without paying duty. He was granted temporary bail by the night magistrate on the same day at 2335 hrs.
