Haryana govt disburses over Rs 2000 crore for wheat purchase

Chandigarh, June 4 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed the payment of Rs 2826.72 crore so far farmers of the state for the purchase of their 33.25 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat during the current rabi season.

While stating this here today, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that HAFED had purchased 12.82 lakh MT of wheat and had disbursed a sum of Rs 1090.41 crore, Food and Supplies Department had procured 8.08 lakh MT of wheat and payment of Rs 687.29 crore had been made. Similarly, Food Corporation of India had procured 3.47 lakh MT wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 294.98 crore to the farmers.

Mr Mohan further said the Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 3.31 lakh MT of wheat and paid a sum of Rs 282.01 crore.

Similarly, Haryana Warehousing Corporation had procured 2.90 lakh MT of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 246.66 crore. He said that Confed had purchased 2.65 lakh MT and the payment of Rs 225.37 crore was made to the farmers.

He said a total of 36.87 lakh MT of wheat had arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far and and 90 per cent of the total arrival had been purchased by these six government procuring agencies. while the traders had purchased 3.61 lakh MT wheat so far.
