Jammu, June 4 (UNI) The Army has foiled another major infiltration bid by militants, killing four of them along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, a defence ministry spokesman today said.

A group of about half a dozen heavily armed militants, who were trying to sneak into Indian territory last night, was challenged by the troops near LoC in the forward area of Manjakote in Rajouri district. The militantsopened fire and in the ensuing gun-battle four ultras were killed while the rest fled back, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said.

However, no Army personnel were injured in the operation, he informed.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including four AK rifles, 21 magazines, 310 rounds, four Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL), nine hand grenades, one wireless set, one antenna and three wire cutters, were recovered from the site of encounter.

The identity of the militants, who appeard to be foreigners, was being ascertained, the spokesman said.

It was the fifth infiltration bid foiled by security forces in the last ten days.

Earlier on May 30, three infiltrating militants were gunned down near LoC in Sabre Gali of Poonch's Mendhar area.

Similarly, security forces foiled militants' bid to enter into Indian territory from Keri sector of Rajouri district on May 25 and from Krishna Ghati in Poonch district on the intervening night of May 25 and May 26.
