Criminal carrying Rs one lakh bounty surrenders

Varanasi, June 4 (UNI) A wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court here today.

Shyam Narayan Singh alias Vineet Singh, also the chairman of district cooperative bank, surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate Aniruddh Maurya in the 2005 BSP leader murder case here.

Four other accused in BSP leader Abhishek Yadav murder case, including Vineet's brother Tribhuvan Singh, Bhagat Singh, Ajay Singh and Satish alias Raju Mishra had already surrendered before the same court.

Vineet, also an accused in the February 2004 murder of jailed underworld sharp-shooter Annu Tripathi, was also wanted in connection with at least 12 other criminal cases.

The Samajwadi Party government had announced a bounty of Rs one lakh on his head and invoked Gangster Act against him. Vineet's gang has been operating in East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
