CPM launches week-long campaign for subsidised 'Atta-Daal'
Jalandhar, June 4 (UNI) The Punjab CPM today launched a week-long campaign against the SAD-BJP Government for not providing subsidised 'Atta-Daal' to the poor masses.
According to a release issued here today, dharnas and demonstrations were held at Phillaur (Jalandhar), Raikot (Ludhiana) and Amritsar city for not fulfilling the promises made by the SAD-BJP during the Assembly elections, for providing flour at Rs 4 per kg and pulses at Rs 20 per kg to the poor masses.
The demonstrators demanded fulfillment of election promises without any condition. They also asked for employment for unemployed, free medical facilities and education to all.
While addressing these dharnas, state secretary Mangat Ram Pasla said ''The main hurdle in fulfilling the promises made during the elections are the polices adopted by the Akali-BJP, which are blue print of previous Congress government and are based on globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation.'' Tommorrow, the second day of campaign, the dharnas and demonstrations would be held at Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Khadoor Sahib and Sardulgarh tehsil headquaters, the release said.
