Aizawl, June 4 (UNI) Subscribers of BSNL mobile phones in Champhai district near Indo-Myanmar border switched off their mobile phones yesterday in protest of the poor services of the company.

Mizoram Journalists' Association of Champhai district spearheaded the protest.

A mobile phone user in Champhai said today that the poor mobile phone connectivity had left them no choice but to protest against the BSNL, the largest mobile phone provider in Mizoram.

He said, "whenever power supply goes off, the network also goes off and it usually takes one hour for an SMS to reach its destination." He further alleged that one has to pay Rs 1500 for the pre-paid cards whose actual price is Rs 114, while a post-paid connection costs as high as Rs 2500.
