AR welcomes back Mizo youth tour
Aizawl, June 4 (UNI) The Assam Rifles-sponsored three-week educational tour for Mizoram youths to South India has returned to Aizawl on Saturday last.
In this tour, 18 boys and 16 girls from Mizoram were taken to various places of interest in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal in a bid to inculcate in them awareness and pride in our diverse cultural heritage and provide an insight into developmental as well as educational projects in the aforesaid states.
The tour was flagged off on May 14 by Lt Gen (Rtd) M M Lakhera, Governor of Mizoram.
Home Minister Tawnluia, who welcomed back the tour on Saturday, exhorted all the members of the group to share their knowledge and experiences with their fellow students, wherever they go.
Brig Kapil Dev, Commander of Mizoram Range Assam Rifles, told UNI that Assam Rifles intend to organise such tours in future also and that he was overjoyed seeing the enthusiastic response of the students.
He said that the Assam Rifles had by and large achieved the objectives of the tour.
